How we build a transition page

  1. Pull O*NET skill importance for source and target SOC codes. Compute overlap and skill-gap delta.
  2. Pull BLS OES percentiles for both SOC codes. Pre-transition ceiling vs post-transition floor.
  3. Catalog program/credential routes with average tuition, time-to-completion, and accreditation status.
  4. Compute multi-year ROI with editable discount rate and forgone-wage assumption. Publish the formula.
  5. Map state authority — where the target credential gets full practice authority (FPA), restricted, or full reciprocity.

FAQ

  • Why so few transition pages right now?

Each transition page takes roughly 8–12 hours of editing because we model real ROI math, not "average lift" hand-waving. RN → NP is the highest-conviction P0 — well-defined source SOC, mature program market, full BLS coverage. We add more once data clarity allows.

  • What about teacher → SWE / nurse → CRNA / accountant → FA?

The general Career Transition ROI Calculator handles those today. Dedicated deep-dive pages for the highest-volume paths come in Phase 2.

  • Are bootcamp affiliates priced into the math?

No. Tuition figures use the program's published price (or median across the named program list). Affiliate links, when present, are clearly labeled and don't influence the recommended program order.
